Le Salon de l’auto (8 au 18 mars) est déjà bourré

[ Geneva, March 5th, © (rke), english below ] – Mhhhh. Le 82ème Salon international de l’auto et accessoires commence seulement ce jeudi 8 mars, que déjà, c’est la cohue. Lors de la remise du titre de la « Voiture de l’Année 2012 » qui est revenu au tandem Chevrolet Volt/Opel Ampera, pas moyen de se frayer un passage pour se rendre aux 7 halles que compte ce salon. « On ne passe pas », m’ordonne un jeune vigie alors que j’essaie de me frayer un passage parmi cette cohue de reporters et photographes. Me voilà donc contraint d’assister à cette sélection coincé parmi dans cette mase compacte de VIPs. Sans regret d’ailleurs. J’assiste au vote ou les juges envoient leur note via écran superpose. Ce qui est dingue, c’est l’instantanéité des résultats. Le classement se fait au fur et à mesure. Cela me fait penser au Grand Prix de l’Eurovision de la chanson, sauf que là c’est la sacro sainte bagnole la vedette. Ben ouais, ça me convient cette affaire. Tiens voilà la fameuse Opel qui s’amène. Ah pas de belle fille dedans… mais ça viendra. Bourré de bonnes choses de salon…

Already the crowd to the Motor Show

Mhhhh…This 82nd International Motor Show and Accessories begins only this Thursday, March 8, as already is the crowd. When putting the title of « Car of the Year 2012 » which assigned to the tandem Chevrolet Volt/Opel Ampera, no way to break through to get to 7 halls that counts this show. " No way here !" ordered a young guard while I try to clear a path among the crowd of reporters and photographers. So here I am compelled to attend the selection trapped in this mase among compact people VIPs. No regrets for that matter. I assist to vote where judges send their notes via screen overlays. What's crazy is the instant results. The ranking is done progressively. This reminds me of the Grand Prix Eurovision Song Contest, except that here it’s the sacrosanct love-car the star. Yeah, great this business-time. Eh, there is the famous Opel that brings. Oh, no beautiful girl inside ... but that will come. Full of good things this show…

La neige nous dépasse : breaking the wall !

Le « mur du son » des neiges a fait son apparition depuis belle lurette et ce ne sont pas les températures polaires qu’on nous annonce d’ici le 3 février qui va nous faire peur. Aux Grisons, la population est déjà bien rodée de glace. Preuve en est cette vidéo piégée au volant de ma voiture, caméra… fixée sur le tableau de bord.

White snow, high know, breaking the wall !

Yeah, the white snow, gold snow, Swiss now, high know ! A wall of favorite white powder of children has appeared long ago around the Grisons state (South of Switzerland), this Juanary 28th, 2012. And it’s not the polar temperatures which we announce us around February 3rd which is going to frighten us. The Grisons’s (Graubünden) people is already well rehearsed on ice. Proof of this video taken by my fix camera on dashbord of my car.

Une fondue-jacuzzi dans un iglou des Grisons

Si c’est le cas, n’hésitez pas à faire une montée en funiculaire à Muottas Muragl à 2'456 m d’altitude. A 50 m du Romantik Hotel, Gian Marco et Suzanne y tienne une spacieuse cabane en or blanc dans laquelle on y déguste une succulente fondue, à peine un peu piquante de vin blanc. Cet iglou fait partie d’une grande chaîne de restaurants des neiges : Iglu-Dorf, www.iglu-dorf, présente aussi à Zermatt, Gstaad, Engelberg et Davos-Klosters, pour la Suisse. Mais le groupe est aussi implanté en France, Allemagne, Autriche, Espagne et Italie.

Bref, assis au frais sur des peaux de mouton, l’air de rien, ça réchauffe une bonne fondue. Un peu humide, l’endroit est tout à fait supportable, du moins quand on bouge. Si jamais une couverture y est offerte pour poser sur les jambes. Prix de ma fondue avec deux thés : 43,6 francs suisses. Mais dans ce coin frisquet, on peut aussi y dormir : de 149 francs la chambre standard à 649 francs la suite avec Jacuzzi. Bon, à ces prix-là, c’est à réfléchir, car, de toute façon, c'est plus cher que les chambres coquettes de l’hôtel d’en face. Après tout, ça vaut le coup. Dans un iglou, ça rafraîchit au moins les idées.

Fondue in an igloo. Are you interested ? In this case, don’t wonder, let’s go ! You can embark on a funicular which rises to Muottas Muragl at 2'456 meters high in the Swiss Alps (Engadine). At 50 meters from the Romantik Hotel, Gian-Marco and Suzanne will hold a spacious rooms-of-white-gold which you can taste a delicious fondue, only slightly spicy white wine. The igloo is part of a large chain of restaurants-snow : Iglu-Dorf, www.iglu-dorf, also in Zermatt, Gstaad, Engelberg and Davos-Klosters, in Switzerland. But the group is present in France, Germany, Austria, Spain and Italy, too.

In short, cool sitting on sheep skins,  it heats up a fondue ! A little wet, the place is quite bearable, at least when you move. If ever, there is coverage offered to put on the legs.

Price of my fondue with two teas : 50 €. But in this chilly corner, you can also sleep : from 99 € a standard room  to 439 € for a suite with Jacuzzi. These prices are higher than the opposite hotel with more expensive rooms. After all, it's worth it. Iglooes refresh at least the ideas.

[ Saint-Moritz, January 26th, 2012, © (rke), english below ] – Brrr… Fait froid, et sec, à 2'456 m d’altitude, plus précisément à Muottas Muragl, en cette fin janvier. C’est en Engadine, à 80 km de Davos (en voiture), là où se tient en ce moment le fameux forum, dont on ne parle guère, ici. Moins 25 degrés C. la nuit, à cette altitude, c’est encore la norme. Je suis casé à l’hôtel Romantik (localité de Samedan), qui a tout pour l’être… romantique. On m’y invite pour réaliser un trip sur l’hôtel, précisément. Mission possible, attribuée pour «  mon » mag, Swiss Engineering RTS où j’ai installé mes quartiers mobiles.

Quoi de plus banal ? Voilà, l’endroit est atteignable seulement par funiculaire et, parvenu au sommet (à ces 2'456 m), le « bahn » s’arrête pile-poil dans l’hôtel ! Unique au monde cette affaire ! Je n’ai en effet jamais vu un funiculaire (un funiculaire, pas une benne) amener des touristes jusqu’à la réception de l’hôtel.

Watt ‘Or 2012

Premier constat : la fraîcheur. Ça sent le neuf et le bois frais… Mhhh, ça chatouille les narines et aère déjà les idées. Le bâtiment est âgé (construit en 1890 par l’ingénieur Robert Wildberger de Coire), mais il a été rénové et lustré tout récemment par le bureau d’architecture Fanzun, de Coire. C’est en fait la station d’arrivée du funiculaire et en même temps le début des pistes de pistes de ski. L’édifice, rustique, est complété par un concept énergétique (solaire et géothermie) parfaitement intégré au lieu. Et le complexe (tout en bois) de forme rectangulaire jouxtant le bâtiment de gâche en rien le style architectural de la contrée. Bref, une optimisation parfaite de la construction. Ce n’est donc pas pour rien que l’entreprise a reçu pas moins de quatre prix, dont l’un des nombreux trophées du Watt d’Or 2012.

Je me suis donc installé dans l’une des chambres simples de l’hôtel où, de la fenêtre, j’aperçois à cent mètres, les pistes. A l’intérieur, tout y en quasi-boisé, même le sol, avec des planchettes identiques au reste des meubles, dont le lit, la table de nuit et les armoires. Sauf les quelques plaques de marbre de la salle de bains qui offre un cachet vraiment romantique à la Romanche. C’est l’heure du souper. Je ne parle pas du restaurant, avec une cuisine gastronomique servie avec respect, gentillesse et convivialité. Ouhhh la, la. On se régale dans un coin-bois vers une fenêtre avec plongée dans la vallée d’Engadine. Eh, qu’est-ce qui se passe ? Les lampes s’éteignent tout à coup. Non, non, ce n’est pas pour continuer à la lueur de la bougie, comme au bon vieux temps, mais bien parce qu’il y a une panne ! Ben oui, l’électricité solaire s’éteint aussi. Seulement, le problème est que les fusibles ne sont pas les mêmes. Le courant ne passe plus aussi vite… Dans le fond, ce n’est pas si mal à la bougie…

Gold and sunshine in Romantik Hotel-funicular
Brrr ... cold and dry ! It’s so at an high of 2'456 meters, specifically in Muottas Muragl, this end of January. In Engadine, at approximately 80 km from Davos (by car), where now stands the famous forum, which we do not talk much here. Minus -25 degrees C., the night at this altitude, it’s still the norm. I check in a room in the Romantik  Hotel (town of Samedan), which has everything to be ... romantic.  I’m invited there for a trip. Mission possible given for « my » mag, Swiss Engineering RTSwhere I installed my mobile neighborhoods. What could be more common place ? So, this place is reachable only by funicular, and reached the top (these 2'456 meters), the « Bahn » stops short-hair in the hotel ! Unique this business, no ? I have never seen a funicular (cable car, not a dump) bring tourists to the hotel reception.

First observation : the freshness. It smells new and fresh wood ... Mhhh, it tickles the nostrils and aerates the ideas already. The construction is old (built in 1890 by engineer Robert Wildberger, in Chur), but it has been renovated recently and gloss by the architectural firm Fanzun, Chur. This is actually the end station of the funicular at the same time the beginning of ski slopes. The hotel is in a rustic design to do and is complemented by an energy (solar and geothermal) fully integrated instead. And the complex (in wood) of rectangular shape adjacent to the building detract from the architectural style of the country. In short, a perfect optimization of construction. So it's not for nothing that the company received no less than four awards, including one of the many trophies of the Watt d’Or 2012. A spicy specal Swiss price .

So I I settled down in one of 16 rooms of the hotel, where,from the window, I can see a hundred meters the ski slopes. Inside, everything in almost woody, the floor boards are identical with the rest of the furniture, including bed, bedside table and cabinets. Except a few patches of marble of the bathroom that offers a truly romantic character to the Romanche.  (the fourth Swiss language ). It's dinner time. I don’t mean the restaurant, with gourmet cuisine served with respect, kindness and friendliness. Ouhhh la, la. We enjoy in a corner window with a timber to dive in the Engadine Valley. Eh, what's going on ? The lamps are going switch-out suddenly. No, this is not to continue with the candlelight (like the good old days), but indeed ‘cause there is a breakdown ! Yeah, solar electricity goes out, too. But the problem is that the solar-fuses are not same than usually-fuses. The current no longer flows as fast ... Basically, it's not so bad by candlelight ...

J’adresse une petite pensée à toute l’équipe du cavalier Romand qui doit être en plein boulot au Concours hippique de Genève. Je rentre donc comme prévu lundi 12 décembre. J’arriverai en Suisse le 13 décembre à Genève, via Zurich. Pourquoi ? Parce que je devais être au Concours hippique et après mon extension de séjour d’une semaine, je n’ai pas pu couper mon billet ! Hihihi…

I offer a thought to the « Cavalier Romand » in full job a the « 51th International Show Jumping in Geneva - CHI-W Geneva ». So, my comeback at home is scheduled Monday, December 12. I will arrive in Switzerland on December 13 in Geneva,  via Zurich. Why ? Because I had to be at this jumping event. And after my extendedstay of one week, I was not able to cut my ticket. Hihihi…

Tout d’abord, suivre le lancement au centre spatial Kennedy du rover martien Curiosity (le robot jumeau, mais en plus grand, comme une table de cuisine, de Spirit et Opportunity).  Puis éventuellement (plus coriace) en ramener une grosse maquette en Suisse : enfin, acquérir des lunettes avec des verres électroniques exclusives. New trip in USA: a Mars rover to return to Switzerland

So, this year I return to the United States for a very specific task. Firts of all, to follow the launch, at the Kennedy Space Center, of the Mars Curiosity rover (the robot-boy, big like a kitchen table, Spirit and Opportunity). Secondly, eventually (tougher) bring back a big model in Switzerland. Finally, acquire some electronic glasses with lenses exclusive. La Transjurane revue par Vincent Girardin

[ Porrentruy, October 26th, 2011, © (rke), english below ] –  La Transjurane, autoroute ? Non, la Revue Transjurane. Il ne s’agit ni plus ni moins  que d’un mag pas comme les autres. Et il y a de quoi ! 98 contributeurs prestigieux et renommés ont ainsi posé leur plume sur les pages  désormais jaunies de ces numéros édités par Roland Stähli et Laurent Boillat dans les années d’avant et d’après-guerre (1938 à 1952).  La Revue Transjurane s’est distinguée par sa présentation soignée et par la qualité de ses textes, tous inédits, grâce, entre autres à : Henri Guillemin, Victor Hugo, Jacques Prévert, Paul Claudel, ou encore Jacques Chessex, Bernard Chappuis, Charles Beuchat, etc.

Dans le cadre de l’exposition de Laurent Boillat (1911-1985) le 26 octobre 2011 au Musée de l’Hôtel Dieu de Porrentruy (MHDP), Vincent Girardin (son petit-fils et le fils de Michel, mon ancien prof d'école primaire, c’est vous dire) enseignant au Lycée cantonal, a ressorti les plus croustillantes anecdotes de ces publications, en maniant si bien le verbe que je me suis un moment perdu dans l’ère non-numérique de l’imprimerie d’antan, des textes bien choisis et de l’ambiance antique. Brrpppp… Tiens voilà mon iPhone qui vibre ! C’est quoi plus cet engin ?

The Transjurane Highway? No, the Review Transjurane (journal)! It’s neither more nor less than a mag like no other. And there is enough ! 98 prestigious and renowned contributors have thus set their pens on the yellowed pages of these numbers now edited by Roland Stähli and Laurent Boillat in the years before and after the war (1938-1952). The Journal « Revue » Transjurane distinguished itself by its careful presentation and the quality of his writings, all unpublished, by :  Henri Guillemin, Victor Hugo, Jacques Prévert, Paul Claudel, or Jacques Chessex, Bernard Chappuis, Charles Beuchat, and more.

As part of the exhibition of Laurent Boillat (1911-1985) on 26 October 2011 at the Museum Hotel Dieu Porrentruy (MHDP), Vincent Girardin (his grand-son and the son of Michel, my former teacher of primary school… It’s to say) teacher at the Cantonal School, has emerged the most juicy stories of these publications, so by wielding the word that I have a moment lost in non-digital era of the printing of yesteryear. And wel chosen texts and old atmosphere. Brrpppp ... Here is my iPhone vibrating ! What's this gadget ?
